Smith helps robinson for the first time
- Since Wendell Smith knew he couldn't play in the MLB, he made it his purpose to see that other African-Americans had that opportunity
- Smith discovered Robinson in the Negro Leagues
- Although Jackie was not the best African-American ball player, his character would prove his best quality while he faced discrimination for the first few years of his carreer
I knew Jackie would make it. And I knew if he made it, things had to open up, and they finally did
